Queer Joy! Project | Joy
The Queer Joy! Project was created by Dr. JJ Wright, a scholar-advocate who works closely with regional, provincial, and inter/national organizations on projects to advance gender, racial, and disability justice.
The project is using participatory and creative methodologies (e.g., collaging, zine-making, short film creation) with 2SLGBTQ+ youth in Alberta and Australia to explore queer joy as a method of enduring and thriving amidst an increasingly hostile and violent political climate.
Project 10 | Youth
Project 10 works to promote the personal, social, sexual and mental well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, two-spirit, intersex and questioning (2LGBTQIA+) youth and adults 14-25.Through advocacy and education, using a harm reduction approach, Project 10 aims to facilitate the empowerment of youth at individual, community, and institutional levels with a particular emphasis on supporting individuals and groups who experience multiple and intersecting oppressions.Services are free of charge, confidential and anonymous, and are offered in English and French.
LGBT+ Family Coalition | Parents
The LGBT+ Family Coalition is a community rights organization that advocates for the social and legal recognition of families that come under the umbrella of sexual and gender diversity.The Coalition is particularly focused on assuring that trans and non-binary people have access to parenthood and full, non-discriminatory parental rights. This might include, for example, the right to privacy and opposing forms and documents, whether in schools or elsewhere, that force parents to come out even if they choose not to.
AGIR | Refugees & Migrants
AGIR is a community of LGBTQIA+ migrants and refugees living in Montréal, supporting and empowering each other to defend our rights to live freely. AGIR offers a number of tools and resources, one on one support, and has experience serving members from 45 countries in 4 main languages: French, Spanish, English, and Arabic.
